How did your Path Lead to that of a Financial Advisor?

I have always enjoyed finance and knew I wanted to make a positive impact in people’s lives in any career that I chose. My mother wanted me to become a doctor as she had qualified but could not proceed because her family could not afford to send her to medical school. I liked to fix things and create products so I thought that technology and engineering was my chosen path. As I grew older, I realized that I wanted more meaning out of my career. With my MBA in finance, years of experience as a corporate officer in large companies and a 401k fiduciary, it was a natural progression to become an independent financial advisor.

How is Capital V Group Different from other Financial Firms?

Fundamentally, I believe that education is power. There is so much confusing information that it is a challenge to cut through all the noise even for many sharp minds. We educate our clients by simplifying concepts and strategies and spending a lot of time up front making sure that our clients feel comfortable and empowered. When they have a clear understanding on why we are doing what we are doing, there is much less scope for confusion or worry about what is being done.

What are Some Things that we would not otherwise Know About You?

I enjoy hiking and have hiked in the Himalayas twice as well as many of our nation’s great national parks. I speak five languages. During one summer many years ago, I stayed with a host family in Japan and enrolled in an intensive Japanese language immersion program. I was shocked at my own ability to converse in Japanese after the first few weeks. Travel and learning about countries and cultures is one of my passions and I have traveled to over 35 countries on four continents.

Anything Else you would like to Add?

I live in the Bay Area with my wife and two children. While I love the Bay Area, as a long time resident, I have been increasingly concerned about the income disparity and high cost of living. I serve on the investment committee of the Los Altos Community Foundation, serving local communities. I spent the first half of this year as part of the Los Altos LEAD program, attending classes every month in the evenings with other like-minded people from the community, to learn about local advocacy and ways to contribute to impactful community organizations.
